Forgotten's and Handcuff's

Over the season, every season there are players that get inured.  Sometimes we have their backups, but most of the time we could have never dreamed they would get injured and even if they did, you can't keep everyone of your players backups.  That is why I have compiled a list of players who will soon be coming back from injury, suspension or should be watched/owned for insurance to your star players.

The Forgotten

Donte Stallworth, WR (Bal) - Stallworth has not played a regualar season game since 2008.  Partly due to a one year suspension due to a drunk driving accident and the other because of injury to his foot.  Well he is finally nearing a comeback with the Ravens (November7).  While absent,  Joe Flacco has been throwing for an average of 236 yards per game to Anquan Boldin, TJ Houshmandzadeh, and Derrick Mason.  All three are very good receivers, but can all be classified as possession receivers.  Stallworth's speed is what will separate him from the other receivers on his team and should become an instant deep threat the Raven have desperately needed.  He should be a good solid number three receiver down the stretch and possibly a number two.

Vincent Jackson, WR (SD) - Jackson has held out the entire year for a better contract.  Well the contract didn't come so he is forced to sign on with the Chargers in order to gain his accrued year of eligibility and the chance to become and unrestricted free agent in 2011.  He is set to sign with the Chargers today, but will sit out three weeks dues to a team suspension.  That has him playing in week 12.  Although his role has not been defined, I would expect him to play hard to try to earn his big contract for next season.  There still is a chance he doesn't push hard to make sure he doesn't injure himself, but let's be honest how many other players are on the waiver wire right now with the possibility of being a number 1 receiver for your fantasy team.  If he is on the waiver wire and you have a bench spot to spare, pick him up.

The Handcuff's

Jonathan Stewart, RB (Car) - Deangelo Williams is injured and most likely will not play this week against St. Louis, which is enough to pick up Stewart now and even play him as an RB2 this week.  It is true that the Carolina run has been up against 8 and 9 fronts most of the season due to inexperience and incompetent play at the QB position, but it is impossible to keep a guy like Stewart bottled up forever.  He has a career average of 4.7 yards per carry and has scored 21 TD'S in two and a half seasons as a backup.  If Williams should miss any extended period of time it Stewart will be a must own.

Derrick Ward, RB (Hou) - Derrick Ward has been an after thought ever since he left the Ny Giants.  Fans and coaches alike felt as if he had lost a step and become lazy since signing a nice contract.  Well the truth was he didn't have the blocking he had in New York and like he has again in Houston.  Derrick isn't a guy who will make something out of nothing, but you put him behind a line that can block...he'll find the hole.  In limited carries with Houston he has averaged 8.3 yards per carry to go along with his 3 TD's.  Now he has no true value unless Arian Foster gets injured, but if that should happen, he could be the piece that will win your season for you.

Deji Karim, RB (Jac) - Deji Karim is not a household name.  Due to the fact that he was injured at the beginning of the season and because he was drafted in the sixth round of this years draft.  But this guy had some scouts screaming at coaches to take him in the later rounds.  Deservingly so with the type of pro day this kid put up.  Now he is fully healthy and has taken the backup RB spot away from Rashaad Jennings as well as the kickoff return duties.    If anything should happen to MJD look for Karim to step up and punish the other 31 teams that passed on him.
